Hassan II Mosque,Casablanca,Morocco

The Hassan II Mosque on the coast of Casablanca, Morocco, was completed in 1993 to a design by Michel Pinseau: its 210-metre minaret is the world's tallest, and a third of the mosque rises over the Atlantic, with a glass floor above the waves. It seats twenty-five thousand worshippers with room for eighty thousand more in the courtyard; the green roof slides open electrically to sun and sea breeze. Moorish mosaic, carved cedar and marble throughout make it the grandest Islamic building of the late twentieth century.
