About Architecture · Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower,S…

The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai, was completed in 1994 at 468 metres - then the tallest in Asia. Three 9-metre columns thread eleven spheres, the lower sphere, upper sphere and Space Module at 98, 263 and 351 metres, the pink spheres strung like large and small pearls on a jade dish. With its revolving restaurant and glass-floored gallery over the Huangpu, it is the emblem of Pudong's opening.
